The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted partly cloudy conditions over the central states of the country on Saturday with chances of localised thunderstorms over Minna and Ilorin in the morning. NiMet gave the prediction in the Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Friday in Abuja. It also said that there would be prospects of localised thunderstorms over Mambila plateau during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperature of 36 to 40 degrees and 21 to 27 degrees Celsius. The agency predicted that southern states would experience cloudy conditions with chances of localised thunderstorms over Akure, Warri, Lagos, Benin, Port-Harcourt and Calabar in the morning hours. It also predicted localised thunderstorms over most part of the south with exception of Shaki and Abeokuta in the afternoon with day and night temperatures of 32 to 34 and 23 to 26 degrees Celsius. Her appeal followed multiple distress calls by Nigerian students in India on concerns over their safety as a result of renewed attacks on them. Dabiri-Erewa said in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday that the renewed Tuesday attacks on Nigerian students’ in India was uncalled for. While condemning the mob action as unwarranted and deplorable, the SSA noted that the Indian authorities currently had five suspects in custody. Dabiri-Erewa noted that though the situation was calm at the moment, the Indian government has a responsibility to protect Nigerian students in India going about their normal duties. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a suspected internet fraudster, Gbenga Yusuf John, who is accused of defrauding an American lady whom he met on a dating site. John who allegedly claimed to own a number of rental properties in Southwest Florida, was arraigned before Justice Nicol-Clay of the Lagos high court on Monday, March 27. He was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and forgery. It was gathered that the accused person allegedly told the victim that he was currently in Africa to give aid to victims of Ebola disease and sought her assistance in managing his rental deposit while he was way. The unsuspecting victim who agreed to help allegedly processed the rental deposits and received thousands of dollars in postal money order mailed directly to her by the accused person. She then allegedly deposited cheques, acquired cash and then transferred the funds through Western Union to Yusuf.
